So What Is Ketamine?

What it is, how it works, and what it costs.

1 - INTRODUCTION

I offer a powerful modality called Ketamine-Assisted Sessions in partnership with skilled and expertly trained prescribers. Ketamine-Assisted Sessions are a holistic modality in which ketamine is used as a complement to emotional work to help eligible clients experience more frequent breakthroughs and sustained experiences of joy and satisfaction in life. I take on the Depth Guide portion of the experience, and work with you while you take the medication. The medical team supports you on all medical aspects. This includes determining eligibility, developing a custom treatment plan, prescribing the medicine and monitoring outcomes.

Who prescribes Ketamine?

Depending on the state and also the type of Ketamine, I work with a few platforms that incorporate science-based psychedelic experiences in their practice safely and effectively, starting with Ketamine-Assisted Sessions (KAS). The medical team takes on patient eligibility, prescriptions and outcome monitoring, while I take on the Guiding work. This collaborative care model is designed to deliver personalized treatment plans to meet your individual needs and improve long-term outcomes.

3 - KETAMINE

Definition

Ketamine is a legal, safe and effective medicine used to treat a variety of conditions. Ketamine has rapidly-acting antidepressant and mood-enhancing effects, which can begin to take effect within 1- 2 hrs. after treatment and last for up to 2 weeks. It works by blocking the brain’s NMDA receptors as well as by stimulating AMPA receptors, which are thought to help form new synaptic connections and boost neural circuits that regulate stress and mood. Ketamine has also been shown to enhance overall neuroplasticity for lasting emotional improvement.

Ketamine Mode of Administration

Ketamine can be administered in a variety of ways, including IV infusion, intramuscular injection, via nasal spray and using sublingual lozenges. When I refer you to the medical team, they will advise you on what form is the best fit for what you need. Usually, lozenge is a very accessible way to have a home experience.

How Does it Feel?

The intense effects of lozenge ketamine, which most patients find pleasant, lasts for approximately 45 minutes to 2 hours. These effects can make you feel “far from” your body, and facilitate shifts in perception that can often feel expansive in nature. Your motor and verbal abilities will be reduced, so you’ll be lying down in a comfortable position during the experience. Once these effects subsided, we’ll spend the remainder of our appointment giving you space to process and discuss your experience. While it may feel hard to articulate what happened during the experience, patients feel like the insights gained are none-the-less clear. The entire session is about two hours. Studies have shown that the benefits to mood and neurological growth can last up to two weeks after the Ketamine experience

Initial Consultation with your Medical Prescriber

You will schedule an initial evaluation with a clinician from one of the medical teams I connect you with via zoom. They will go over your medical and psychiatric history with you, provide education on the treatment and determine if you are eligible for KAS. If the medical team determines that you are eligible for KAS, they will develop a personalized Ketamine prescription and outcome monitoring plan for you. They will write a ketamine prescription for you, and a small amount of oral ketamine will be sent to your home, enough for the first 2 KAS sessions. You will be taught to take your vitals and self-administer the ketamine lozenges by the medical team in advance of our KAS sessions.

Preparation sessions

Once you receive your ketamine lozenges, we will schedule time together for our KAS preparation, dosing and integration sessions. 6-10 Preparation session(s) of 1 hr each will be scheduled prior to the KAS dosing session. These can be done in 2-3 hour increments, if desired. The goal of a preparation session(s) is to align on the process and set intentions for our KAS sessions together.

KETAMINE DOSING SESSION

A typical ketamine dosing session lasts between 2-3 hours and will take place in-person in the comfort and privacy of your home. You will not need a driver, or to arrange pickup, as you would with an in office session. During a dosing session, you will self-administer your ketamine lozenge. You will be in a comfortable, reclining position wearing an eye mask and listening to curated music. Although a KAS dosing session may be largely an internal experience, I will be present with you the entire time to hold space and provide support as needed.

INTEGRATION SESSIONS

After our KAS dosing session, we will meet for multiple integration therapy sessions to review the memories, thoughts & insights that arose during your dosing session, and to prepare for the next dosing session. Research shows that this is an essential part of the effectiveness of Ketamine sessions, and can double the length of the positive effect.

First KAS Session

After our first Ketamine session, the medical team schedules regular follow ups with you to monitor outcomes and prescribe ketamine lozenge refills, as appropriate. The frequency of follow ups depends on your unique treatment plan, at a minimum of once per quarter.

KETAMINE INTAKE EVAL ~ 1.5hr : $275

In your first Ketamine-Assisted Therapy evaluation session, we’ll take time to understand you—not just your symptoms. Together, we’ll explore what brings you here, what you’re hoping to shift or heal, and how ketamine might support that process. We’ll discuss your personal history, current challenges, and any factors relevant to your care. This is also a chance for you to ask questions, get clear on the process, and decide if this path feels right for you. It’s a collaborative, grounded conversation that sets the stage for meaningful work ahead. Even if you’re not approved for ketamine by the medical provider, this first session often brings new insight, context, and meaning to what you’re struggling with—offering clarity and direction in itself.

PREPARATION SESSIONS x6 ~ 1hr : $600

Rate of $200 per 60 mins (Can be done in 2-3 hour sittings)
Ketamine preparatory sessions are where we lay the foundation for meaningful, grounded work. In these meetings, we clarify your intentions, explore your history, and prepare your mind and nervous system for the altered state experience. We’ll talk about what to expect, how to navigate the inner terrain, and how to create a safe container—both during and after the session. This is also where we build trust and connection, so you feel supported, resourced, and ready to engage the process with openness and courage.

KETAMINE ASSISTED SESSIONS x4 : $2400

Rate of $200 per 60 mins (typically 3 hours each)
A Ketamine-Assisted Session is a guided inner journey supported by careful preparation, therapeutic presence, and intention. You'll take ketamine in a safe, structured setting—often with eyeshades and music—while I remain present to support your process. Whether the experience is expansive, emotional, or symbolic, we work together afterward to help you integrate what arises. These sessions aren’t about fixing or escaping, but about deepening your relationship to your inner world, loosening stuck patterns, and reconnecting with clarity, meaning, and resilience.

INTEGRATION SESSIONS x4 ~ 4hrs : $800

Rate of $200 per 60 mins (Sched within 2-3 days of Ketamine)
Ketamine integration sessions are where the real transformation begins. This is the time to unpack the insights, images, and emotions that surfaced, and connect them to your daily life in practical, meaningful ways. We’ll explore what the session revealed, identify themes or shifts, and translate them into actions or perspectives you can sustain. Integration helps prevent the experience from fading into a memory; it anchors the change, weaving it into your relationships, choices, and sense of self. Without it, valuable insights risk being lost; with it, they become part of your ongoing growth.

TOTAL TREATMENT - 15.5hrs : $4075 (approx.)

COMPARISON WITH TRADITIONAL TREATMENT

Ketamine-Assisted Sessions are an accessible modality when directly compared to the investment of weekly therapy annually as well as ongoing psychiatric care for depression or anxiety.

Typical out of pocket costs are $5000 annually for the common treatment of depression using antidepressants and weekly talk therapy.
